Johannesburg - The JSE hit a record high on Monday, rising 1.6% on a surge in gold producers that were lifted by a higher bullion price, such as Gold Fields.

The benchmark Top 40 index touched a record of 37 904.33 passing a previous high set in May, while the broader All Share hit a record 42 331.62.
