Makandiwa declares national days of prayer

Published: 10 October 2019
UNITED Family International Church (UFIC) leader Emmanuel Makandiwa has embarked on a series of prayer sessions for three days each week for an indefinite period. The sessions, to be held countrywide every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday beginning this week, come as the country is enmeshed in seri- ous economic challenges.

Makandiwa's spokesperson, Prime Kufa, said UFIC was just playing its role as commanded by God.

"One of the roles of the church is to pray for the country seeing that there are evil spirits targeting the nation. We will be doing this every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday starting today (yesterday) until further notice," Kufa said.

While Kufa would not be drawn into disclosing what had informed the decision to call for national prayers, UFIC insiders said the popular preacher's declaration was a prophetic instruction to call for divine intervention to save Zimbabweans from the myriad challenges that they are grappling with.

"That is how God speaks to His people. Zimbabweans have suffered for a long time and when the man of God speaks, the wise listen and take heed so that is what we are doing as UFIC.

"We know that it is coming from the prophetic office. It is time to seek God's intervention to save the situation in the country because we may try all we can but without us calling upon Him all will be in vain," a senior UFIC pastor said.

Makandiwa's call for divine intervention comes as other clerics are pushing for President Emmerson Mnangagwa to dialogue with op- position MDC leader Nelson Chamisa to forge a united front in a bid to save the country from total economic collapse.
