Zimbabwe excites Japanese tourism market

ZIMBABWE'S continued re-engagement with the international community has excited key tourism source markets that are now keen to visit the country to sample its diversified tourism products.

Japan's top travel agents have responded positively to the call made by the Minister of Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Prisca Mupfumira to visit Zimbabwe.

An advance Japanese team led by Mr Ko Yonao - leader from East Japan Sales Department Operations together with Mr Yashiro Watanabe - coordinator East Japan Sales Department and Mr Toshinobu Oka - planning section/manager arrived in the country last week and immediately held high level meetings with local tour operators, head of corporate affairs at the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), Mr Godfrey Koti, said in an update statement.

"The visit by leading Japanese tour operators is a follow up to Zimbabwe's participation at the Japan Association of Travel Agents," he said.

The visiting Japanese group is made up of senior officials from top travel companies in Japan that includes renowned Seichi Travel.

"The tour that is covering Harare and Victoria Falls will also see an exchange of countries' rich cultural experience and tourism business ideas. This will allow for the exploration of numerous diverse tourism products, which are specific to the Japanese market," said Mr Koti.
