TELECOMMUNICATION companies have been urged to come up with ways to mitigate declining revenue caused by increased use of over-the-top (OTT) voice applications, which have resulted in voice and data tariffs declining.
Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) director-general Gift Machengete said network service providers should not continue mourning about loss of revenue to applications such as WhatsApp, Facebook and Skype.
"To our operators, I say the days of mourning about OTT have gone - be the OTT yourselves. Disrupt yourselves in OTT fashion and get going," he said.
